California Blog #49: Vacation Day 9 - The Last Day

Image
Well, it’s almost time. Well not really, but tomorrow is our flight back home. So to top that off, here’s what we did on our final day of vacation. We took a trip down to downtown Santa Cruz and walked on down to Verge coffee shop for a cookie. Mine was chocolate chip nutty flavored. Then Aunt Leta took me to Ibiza for a hot churro. And after that, we walked on down to Streetlight Records again, only this time with Leta and Mark and got myself a Madvillain poster, Sublime stickers, a couple of bargain rock CDs for myself and a Streetlight Records sticker. I didn’t know that my dad saw me there when we were shopping here. Then we got to go get lunch at Palomar Taco Bar for some tacos. My dad really loves this place! Seriously. So do I! Next, we went to a Santa Cruz Makers Market and found a Rocko card. Fun fact is that Rocko is the character from Rocko’s Modern Life. Next was the tour around Google where Shanann works. We met Shanann and Miles along with the kids and took a tour i...

California Blog #48: Vacation Day 8 - It’s Party Time

Image
It’s Saturday September 14th and today’s the big day. Man I don’t wanna miss this! We went to Theo’s birthday party at Shanann and Miles’s house and everyone including us was invited. We had fun, played around in the backyard with him and all his friends, had some snacks, and ate sandwiches for lunch. Mmm-mmm! I even saved myself a pack of Goldfish crackers for later. We even played plenty of fun games with the rainbow parachute together. Going to Theo’s birthday party at their house reminds me of the good old days back in Lawrence. Like this one time we throw a dance party with my friends from school. We danced, we partied, we had food and cola, the power went out. Yeah, good times. After that, we went to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk to go on some rides. How did we get here? Well after parking at a place where no one can see us, we walk there. On our way, my dad showed me where he and his band played. That is at the Dream Inn. But before that, he even showed me where he stayed at Sea ...

California Blog #47: Vacation Day 7 - Theo’s Birthday

It’s Friday September 13th, and it’s a very special day. So here’s what my dad and I did this morning. We both got together and drove to downtown Santa Cruz to walk around. I even got to go to Comicopolis to buy a Big Nate book for myself. That place has been around forever, and I really love that store. Before that, he and I went to Sylvan Music to buy some guitar strings. I had to sit in the car for a while. I was just about to get out of the car and walk around town for a little bit but it turned my dad was done. So I opened up and I found him. Next, I got to visit Streetlight Records while my dad went down to the Starving Musician. I even got a picture of him with that shark! Haha!😆  Streetlight Records has all the CDs, records, posters, DVDs, and so much more. So I’m gonna text Uncle Mark and Aunt Leta a Christmas wishlist of things I want from this place. And then after that, me and my dad got lunch again at Jack In The Box. I got the triple Jack combo. Then I relaxed...

California Blog #46: Vacation Day 6 - Family Visits

Image
It is Day 6 of my California vacation, and today was a good one. First, the three of us went out for a walk here at Monterey Bay. Like last time, we were looking for some butterflies that fly around. But for some reason, it was the wrong season. So it had to wait until winter. Before that, we went to Target to get Theo James a gift for him. Anyway… after our walk, we went to have lunch at Palomar in downtown Santa Cruz. I had a carne asada quesadilla which is delicious. I use sour cream to dunk it. It required free chips and salsa with that.  Then when we got back, Aunt Leta picked Kieran up from school today and took him to Tae Kwon Do. If you’ve heard of Tae Bo starring Billy Blanks, you might be familiar with his workout. Moving on. We took off with Kieran and Theo James as we headed down to Shanann and Miles’s house for a visit. Kieran and Theo James did a tour around the house. His room, the backyard, the study room, everything. Shanann even made me bean and cheese ques...

California Blog #45: Vacation Day 5 - Just The Two Of Us Reminiscing

Today is Wednesday September 11th. And today, me and my dad went on a drive together. Here’s what happened today. First off, we went down to Lovers Point to see the whales spout here in Monterey Bay. But before that, we went to Carmel-By-The-Sea to see my dad’s friend here at Montgomery Art Gallery. When he finally made it to his destination, his friend wasn’t here and so we moved on. Maybe he’s been busy or something. I don’t know. My dad showed me where my mom and dad used to work. Things have changed since back then. On our way, we stopped by David Avenue and remembered when I was little. There used to be a McDonalds there and now it’s a Starbucks. I remember when I got upset and my autism got worse then we got to doctor’s to see what was wrong. Now that I’m grown, I’m all over that. But at least I feel a lot better now. Now that seemed really familiar of what I remember the most. When I was this little, my family and I lived in this house next to the ocean near Pacific Grove....
