California Blog #49: Vacation Day 9 - The Last Day

 Well, it’s almost time. Well not really, but tomorrow is our flight back home. So to top that off, here’s what we did on our final day of vacation.


We took a trip down to downtown Santa Cruz and walked on down to Verge coffee shop for a cookie. Mine was chocolate chip nutty flavored. Then Aunt Leta took me to Ibiza for a hot churro.





And after that, we walked on down to Streetlight Records again, only this time with Leta and Mark and got myself a Madvillain poster, Sublime stickers, a couple of bargain rock CDs for myself and a Streetlight Records sticker. I didn’t know that my dad saw me there when we were shopping here.

Then we got to go get lunch at Palomar Taco Bar for some tacos. My dad really loves this place! Seriously. So do I!

Next, we went to a Santa Cruz Makers Market and found a Rocko card.



Fun fact is that Rocko is the character from Rocko’s Modern Life.

Next was the tour around Google where Shanann works. We met Shanann and Miles along with the kids and took a tour inside the Google building.



We saw everything, the lunch room, the meeting room, the game room, the balcony with a hammock, the lounge, and there was a room with all the musical instruments. I was totally amazed and psyched to see the whole thing. Stunning and more efficient! I didn’t know Google has so much to do. Shanann even showed me her office. Cool! We even got ourselves some snacks. I got a Coke Zero for myself. There’s even a machine for some sparkling water. Absolutely incredible! Like Siskel & Ebert, I give the Google building a huge two thumbs up! In the meeting room, I used the whiteboard to draw a picture of CJ. In case you know, CJ is a character of a giraffe that I came up with of my own. I drew that on the whiteboard though.

After the tour was done, we got back to Aunt Leta and Uncle Mark’s house and chilled out for a while. I even got to go for a walk all by myself for an hour. It was an awesome vacation! And best of all, I love visiting California. I can’t wait to visit Aunt Leta and Uncle Mark once again. Well, this concludes my vacation visiting there, and I hope that someday when I finally got my money saved I’ll be coming back again. Until then, I’ll be coming with more ideas on how we can hang out and have more fun during our next visits in California.

That wraps up my vacation. With plenty of time to save money, I can plan more trips and visits to California for some time in the future. But for now, this vacation is complete and we’ll do this again soon. This is A.J., thank you for reading. I hope you’ve enjoyed my vacation stories in my blog.

California Blog #08: A Visit to Axtell Expressions

  Ever since the day I got my first Axtell puppet in Lawrence KS, it has always been my dream to entertain children, and start my puppet's own show on YouTube. So I would like to take my time to talk about Axtell Expressions. It all started in the month of February 2013 when I got my bee puppet delivered to my door. It was a best day of my life. Since I named him Buzzy, I got the chance to show my puppet to everyone in Lawrence. The school that I went to [Free State High School], Cordley Elementary [including Lois Orth-Lopes], and of course all of my friends in this town I lived in. They are so thrilled that they saw it. California Blog #11: 7-Eleven

  As I'm still working on my next future life in northern California, I'd like to take my time to talk to you about my daily trips to 7-Eleven in my spare free time. Whenever I come in to a 7-Eleven, I get myself a Slurpee of any kind that I like. Whether it's wild cherry, blue raspberry, pina colada, or Coca-Cola flavored, I'm always down with that. One time, my family and I were visiting 7-Eleven to get myself a Slurpee during vacation in California, and I tried a wild cherry Slurpee. And I gotta tell you, I almost got myself a brain freeze when I sipped too fast. We were in the car on the way. Visiting 7-Eleven reminds of the time I was in Kansas City with my dad while we were moving, and it was great. I wanted to pick out something besides a Slurpee, but it was all I can get here for now.
