California Blog #28: The Greatest Show On Earth

Ladies and gentlemen…introducing the greatest show on Earth!

How would you like to enjoy a good time here at the circus together? Okay, here goes!

Back in the day, there was the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus. It was the greatest show on Earth. But suddenly it didn’t exist anymore. But when it returns, we’ll give it a try. But right now, let’s talk about the circuses in Northern California. Let’s begin with one I wanna check out, and that is Circus Vargas.

We can even see some acrobats, clowns, some circus arts and theater…it’ll be just like Cirque de Soleil. I wonder if one of us can get a pie in the face. SPLAT! Heck, I might even get Buzzy to do an interview with the clown performers before the show.

If we wanna see the circus for the first time, maybe we can get the chance to hang out here outside the tent. Maybe also Aunt Leta can come with me here to get entertained by funny clowns of the show. Plus, maybe get ourselves some snacks or maybe cotton candy. You know the old saying, “The show must go on!”

Now here’s the story about Circus Vargas.

In 1969, Clifford E. Vargas fulfilled his childhood dream when he raised the canvas of what was to become “Americas favorite Big Top Circus!  Having been a lifelong circus spectator and fan, Mr. Vargas believed he could bring back the glamour, thrills and heart-pounding excitement of the authentic old-time circus. He was adamant that a circus wasn’t a circus if  it wasn’t under the big top and  wanted to make sure that every generation would have the opportunity to experience its magic first hand.   He was dedicated and determined to make the name Circus Vargas synonymous with family entertainment and continued to do so until his untimely death in 1989.

Now, I’ve seen a movie about the Ringling Bros and Barlem and Bailey Circus called ‘The Greatest Showman’ at the Cinemark in Bluffton once and it was epic. Hugh Jackman and cast were wonderful!

And you may not notice this, but I loved that musical with all the characters living the dream before the circus was born. My song I liked from the movie was ‘This Is Me’ by Kesha.

Anyway, when I visit Circus Vargas, I wanna see some trapeze artists, acrobats, and plenty of tricks here. It’ll be fun when we check it out for the very first time in California.

Don’t you think that it’s time for all of us to step right up?

You decide… you’ll get the rest.
