California Blog #03: KPIG
They call it KPIG. I will always remember listening to 107.5 FM during California vacations every summer. Whenever we're in the car, we feel like we're in KPIG territory. It's like oink oink here and there, and another oink oink everywhere. I'll never forget the time The Kinks was heard. We listened to then on our way to the Klavers' house to visit. If I can offer just one tip for the future, KPIG would be it.
You know something, I wish that I could listen to KPIG all the time. Anytime, and anywhere. So I ask myself, "What would Pure Pork (KPIG) do?". And then I think, that is the best radio station I have ever heard in my entire life. I know my dad loves that station. And when we keep listening to it a lot, the more we remember our favorite songs from my dad's all time favorites. For example, we listened to Chrissie Hynde's hit singer, "Dark Sunglasses" from her 2014 album, 'Stockholm'. That track was pretty cool though.

So then I also realize that whenever we listen to KPIG, we feel like we're hit by a lot of nostalgia. Just like what Baz Luhrmann said about it. It's dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth. In the future, I'm still gonna enjoy listening to KPIG anytime my family would like especially my cousins, including Aunt Leta and Uncle Mark. And maybe in my next life in my next apartment, I might listen to it while I'm in bed chilling, or sleeping. And maybe I can even listen to it on the radio all the time inside my apartment. Man, I can't wait to see what it would be like of I listen to it over and over again while things are going great in California. I had another thought... Maybe my dad can get me some KPIG sampler CDs for Christmas (KPIG Greatest Hits Volumes 2 and 3, a KPIG t-shirt for just about my size (3XL or 2XL), and maybe my own KPIG sticker just like the one my dad has on his guitar case. 107 Oink 5 FM is one of my favorite radio stations of all time. It's been our favorite station since 2005. It's just like my family and I listened to Smooth Jazz 106.5 The City back in the day. It was Kansas City's radio station as they called it 'the smoothest place on the radio'. When I come back, I will once again keep hearing the radio station that oinks you back to the music in the state of California. Why? Because KPIG is the best station that we both love.

Ever since I'm a fan of that radio station in California, I really enjoy a lot of the music played in KPIG. And you know something, when I live in Cali again in the future, I might get the chance to support the radio station on a daily basis. Aunt Leta and Uncle Mark will appreciate all of this. Another thing that's cool is that I'm still planning on making my own custom KPIG mixes for my cousins, and for my aunt and uncle. I also made a special KPIG playlist on Spotify so that people can listen to it anytime too. If you like my next blog about KPIG, feel free to give me some more info on supporting this radio station. In fact, I'm thinking about having my own KPIG bumper sticker to put on my book cover, my furniture, or maybe on the cover of my journal. Whatever that's possible. The very next thing I wanna do in California in the future is that maybe I can join the radio station for an interview on my music with my band that my dad came up with titled 'The Skylon'. That would pretty cool, don't you agree. My version of my next future can be exactly different as we enjoy the wonderful lighter things in life, and someday I will somehow get used to this. When I thought about listening to KPIG all the time, it reminds me and my family of the good old days. And you know what they also say, I will always enjoy the power and beauty of my youth.
But trust me on the KPIG station. 'Nuff said.
